Description
Maria Antonia Walpurgis of Bavaria, Elector of Saxony, was not only a politician, seven-time mother and businesswoman, she was also a painter and studied composition with Hasse and Porpora. It is no wonder that her opera “Talestri” is about Amazons! Maria Antonia herself sang the title role in the premiere at Nymphenburg Castle. Maria Antonia was a member of the Academia dell’Arcadia of Rome, and aware of the strength of its founder, Queen Christina of Sweden.
