News to start your week!

The March 8 concert performed by the BBC Orchestra —Music by five forgotten women — is available online until April 7!  We’d like to invite critical engagement with the music revealed by this important event!  We ask readers to submit their reviews (750 to 1500 words) of the concert to be part of our blog, and to stimulate continued discussion about these works!  We offer honoraria of US$100-200 for selected reviews!  Please email at [email protected] with your questions/submissions.

YourClassical is honoring women in music throughout March – and hopefully will continue throughout the year, too!  Listen into the stream here, and read many articles about women in music.  The station is also actively seeking recordings of works by women composers – find out how to submit here.

WQXR presented the music of Fanny Mendelssohn Hensel as performed by Joanne Polk.  Listen in to the performance, and conversation with Professor Polk, here.

Bitch Magazine adds to the celebration of Women’s History Month with their list of 10 Black Women Composers to Discover.  This collection is especially notable as Bitch Magazine doesn’t typically discuss topics related to classical music.
