AND, speaking of Ethel Smyth, her opera The Wreckers will be given a major staging at the Glyndebourne Festival in 2022. Two new works by women will also be included. It will be the first ever staging of the opera in its original language (the libretto is by Henry Brewster), French.
We are thrilled by the newly released CD recording of Louise Farrenc’s Symphonies nos. 1 and 3, with Laurence Equilbey conducting her period-instrument Insula Orchestra (of Paris).
