Elizabeth Bell, composer and co-founder of New York Women Composers passed away on December 19 at the age of 88.  She was a champion for young composers and advocated for the work of women composers throughout her life.  Sequenza21 has a remembrance.
An up-and-coming composer is giving the opera world a lot to talk about!  Alma Deutscher’s retelling of Cinderella was premiered in Vienna and is receiving quite a lot of praise, and the extraordinary work of the 11 year old British girl is invoking comparisons to Mozart!  The Guardian has the full story.
