Melvyn Krauss has a great piece at Bloomberg.com titled, “Why More Women are Winning at Musical Chairs“.  Krauss, emeritus professor of economics at NYU and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution at Stanford University, provides a thoughtful discussion and on the history and progress of women in the field of conducting.

And, a reminder of the progress that still needs to be made.  Irish composer and conductor Eimear Noone, who is well known for her work composing scores for video games, was awarded over $700k by a jury in a case surrounding the discrimination she experienced when pregnant.  Read more at CBS Los Angeles.
