Susanna Mälkki’s work continues to be recognized. Not long ago she was named the new Chief Conductor of the Helsinki Philharmonic Orchestra, and just this week it was announced that she is the new Principal Guest Conductor of the Los Angeles Philharmonic. In more conducting news, Xian Zhang, who was recently named the first female Music Director of the New Jersey Symphony, is conducting the ensemble for the first time since the announcement.
