Though the news is a bit dated now, it is still worth noting that Joanna MacGregor was recently appointed the new head of piano at the Royal Academy of Music.  She will take her post in September 2011, replacing Christopher Elton, MacGregor’s former teacher, who has been the “Head of Keyboard” since 1986.

Joanna MacGregor is known internationally for her acclaimed performances and recordings of The Canon as well as her work in jazz.  She opened her own record label, SoundCircus, in 1998.  She is also the artistic director for the Bath International Music Festival.

Brava for Joanna MacGregor in her new placement!  Below is a clip of MacGregor performing Bach.
