After a long Thanksgiving weekend, we at Women’s Philharmonic Advocacy have spent our time these past two days organizing and processing the 2014 Performance Grant applications.  In even just a cursory review of the applications we are impressed with the excellent proposed programs – and heartened by the range of ensembles that have applied.  There are ensembles from Florida to Washington state, representing community, professional, and youth orchestras – both with and without vocalists.  I don’t envy the judges who have to make decisions in the coming days!

We are so happy to be able to provide this grant opportunity and to do our part to advocate for the works of women and to make sure that women’s voices are heard.  And today, #GivingTuesday, is the perfect opportunity for our fans and supporters to reinvest in the work that we do by making a contribution to support our endeavors.

I encourage you to make a donation (as a registered 501(c)3, all donations are tax deductible), or do some holiday shopping in our store.  Your contribution or purchase will help us continue to work to level the playing field for women composers and support upcoming projects to make sure that women’s works, both historical and contemporary, aren’t neglected in the musical canon.
