This weekend boasts a lot of great concerts and opportunities to support women’s work in music – contemporary and historic!

There are two opportunities to hear Amy Beach’s historic Symphony this weekend.  If you happen to be in London, England this weekend Harmony Sinfonia, a London based ensemble, will be performing work on March 4, along with other works by women composers.

 

If you are stateside, the Michigan Philharmonic under the direction of Nan Washburn will perform the symphony on March 5.

 

Also on March 5, the Cornell Symphony Orchestra will be offering their their annual Young Person’s Concert with an Instrument Petting Zoo.  The program will include Tonia Ko’s Strange Sounds and Explosions Worldwide as well as Joan Tower’s Clarinet Concerto.  More information and tickets available here.
