There is another great weekend of concerts to look forward to – and music by women composers to be heard from Massachusetts and California!

Cappella Clausura was founded by Amelia LeClair in 2004 to research, study and perform the music of women composers. Our twin goals are to bring engaging performances of this music to today’s audiences, and to help bring women composers into the classical canon.

The ensemble, based in Boston, MA, has an impressive and inspiring repertoire list.  This weekend the ensemble will perform a cappella works by Rebecca Clarke as well as an a cappella opera, Cassandra, by Elena Ruehr – with chances to catch a performance on Saturday or Sunday.

We are also looking forward to another great performance from Community Women’s Orchestra, winner of a 2014 Performance Grant as well as a WPA AMY Award!

On Sunday the ensemble will present the World Premiere of a new work by Kathryn Greisinger, winner of CWO’s Call for Scores.  The concert, and the performance of this new work, will also include students from Edna Brewer’s Middle School.  You can learn more about the new piece, titled Legends of Glory, and the amazing experience the students are having working with a living composer and the CWO at the San Jose Mercury Times.

Best wishes to everyone performing this weekend – so much wonderful music to look forward to!
