We are thrilled to announce the winners of the 2015 cycle of Women’s Philharmonic Advocacy Performance Grants. Our panel of judges were very pleased with the number – and quality – of applications and needed to make some hard decisions in how to distribute the funding. The judges were particularly impressed with the ensembles that demonstrated a commitment to the performance of works by women, and the performance of works by historic women composers.
Among the pieces that are being supported by a WPA Performance Grant are works by: Louise Farrenc, Amy Beach, Lili Boulanger, Vítězslava Kaprálová, Emilie Mayer, Marianna von Martines, Rebecca Clarke, Camilla de Rossi, Isabella Leonarda, Germaine Tailleferre, Polina Nazaykinskaya, Marion Bauer, Maria Hester Park, Florence Price, and Ethel Smyth.
And thank you to our generous donors who contributed individually or via our Indiegogo campaign which made these grants possible!
Congratulations to all of the winners, listed below. As you will see, it was wonderful to receive, and be able to fund, performances happening across the country by professional, community, and youth orchestras. There are some fantastic concerts to look forward to in the coming months!
