The New York Philharmonic is commissioning 19 new works by women composers in honor of the 100th anniversary of Women’s Suffrage.  Read more about the project, titled simply Project 19, on the New York Philharmonic’s website or at the NYTimes.  The first debut is by Tania León, pictured above.  She is also  featured in this New York Times article about her life and work, as well as the new piece.
