With 2020 only a few days away, now is the time to grab your new WPA Calendar! Newly revised and better than ever – featuring the birthdays of historic and contemporary composers, and celebrating the anniversaries of exceptional works in music history composed by women.
Speaking of exceptional works, read about the all-too-often forgotten opera by Pauline Viardot’s, Le Dernier Sorcier. Viardot (pictured above) was a singer and composer who composed an opera based on strong women and working against the standard gender portrayals one expects in opera. Read more at The Conversation.
