Sorry to be so late with our weekly update! We do want to make sure everyone knows that the Women Composers Festival of Hartford is completely available online (until April 7), and for no fee (donations are encouraged, of course!) The 2022 Ensemble-in-residence Hartford Independent Chamber Orchestra (HICO) features the world premiere of Music Box Impromptu by Hanna Kim (pictured, Composer-in-Residence) The full program is here in PDF.
We are amazed by (and sorry we couldn’t attend) Indianapolis Opera’s performance (together with the Indianapolis Children’s Choir) of Brundibar & Vedem, a pairing of two operas, one composed by Hans Krása in 1938, and the other by Lori Laitman in 2010. Learn more about this brilliant concept, and in the TV clip, hear an excerpt from Vedem.
And if you’re in the U.S. the PBS series Great Performances is premiering The Conductor, the documentary about Marin Alsop and her journey to become one of the most successful and renowned conductors in the world – happens tonight, Fri. March 25.
