Resources For Finding Repertoire
While WPA is an initial great start for finding works be women composers there are many other great resources out there. We’ve compiled a list to help you get a head start on finding the repertoire you are looking for.
Online Databases
The Free Public Library of Philadelphia
A large portion of the music library of The Women’s Philharmonic is available through the Free Public Library of Philadelphia. Search for “Women’s Philharmonic” and score format. You can also explore the list of repertoire performed by TWP (although in many cases it is not known how to obtain the scores).
Anna’s Composer Database
Conductor Anna Edwards started Anna’s Composer Database to encourage and promote musical diversity. It features women and other historically marginalized composers. This is a carefully curated and informative database; first month free (and then only $5 per month).
The Boulanger Initiative
The Boulanger Initiative has a new database of music by historic (non-living) women and other gender-marginalized people.
Women of Note
Diana Ambache has compiled a list of repertoire of women composers she considers important for anyone to know while exploring.
TWP Repertoire List
We also have a partial list of works performed by The Women’s Philharmonic throughout their 24 year history.
Composer Diversity Database
We also highly recommend the Composer Diversity Database to discover new repertoire!
