News and Music to start your week!
We are saddened to report the loss of Dr. Nancy B. Reich – renowned musicologist and advocate for women’s work in music. Her daughter Susanne Reich suggested in her late mother’s obituary the opportunity for people to donate to Women’s Philharmonic Advocacy in Nancy Reich’s memory. You may donate to our organization, which also advocates for women in music, here.
Congratulations to 2019 Grammy Award winners Laurie Anderson (Best Chamber Music Performance), and JoAnn Falletta (Best Classical Compendium). Congratulations also go to Du Yun and Missy Mazzoli who were both nominated for Best Contemporary Classical Composition – a prize that was won by Aaron Jay Kernis.
The Women Composers Festival of Hartford is just around the corner! Jennifer Jolley is this year’s composer-in-residence and The Nouveau Classical Project is ensemble-in residence. The festival will take place March 29 and 30 at various locations in Hartford – and tickets for the festival and concerts are available now!
