There is news that the Sphinx Organization, known for encouraging and supporting young musicians from diverse backgrounds to enter careers in music, is now also turning focus to encourage more diversity in artistic leadership.  Read more at Detroit Business.

Yip Wing-sie, the first Hong Kong woman conductor to head a professional orchestra, has announced she is stepping down from her position at the Hong Kong Sinfonietta, after 18 years.  The South China Morning Post has the story.  We look forward to seeing what is next in store for her for her!

The weekend was a busy one for performances, with the New Jersey Symphony Orchestra performing Florence Price’s Piano Concerto (with Aaron Diehl) as the soloist), and Boston’s conductorless string ensemble, A Far Cry, performing Source Code by Jessie Montgomery, and Grażyna Bacewicz’ Concerto for String Orchestra (1948), concert reviewed here.
