MamlokHappy birthday to composer, pianist, and educator Ursula Mamlok!  Born in Berlin on February 1, 1923, Mamlok began her musical education with Gustav Ernest and Emily Weissgerber until they fled Nazi Germany and came to the United States.  Mamlok continued her studies at the Mannes School of Music, and then continued on to the Manhattan School of Music.  Prominent teachers included George Szell, Roger Sessions, and Ralph Shapey.

Mamlok writes extensively for chamber ensembles, but has also composed numerous pieces for orchestra.  Her works are available through several publishers, including Hildegard Publishing, as well as directly through the composer.
